Flicks and Food

I’m a college student from MA who’s studying business communication (that’s the abbreviated form) as a major, set to graduate in May 2008. After a few years of a well-rounded business education, I’ve realized that maybe it’s not my thing, and I’m more of a creative type.

I’ve always loved food and eating and cooking, and think myself to be spoiled because my aunt is a pastry chef and basically amazing. The thought of going to culinary school has always been in the back of my mind, and the jury’s still out on that one- I have loans coming out my ears as it is!

My other love is theater and acting, but since I know I wouldn’t be able to make a career out of it, I enjoy it while I’m in school. Related to this is my love of movies. To me, there’s nothing better than curling up on the couch after a long day with a pint of Ben & Jerry’s and watching a movie. I have a really varied range of tastes, so I’m always up for something new!

I have a few reasons for starting this blog: (1) I couldn’t fall asleep at 2AM and it popped into my head, (2) I love writing, food, and movies, so voila! (3) I need some writing samples for potential employers, and I feel that my best work is when I’m writing for enjoyment and not BS-ing some paper for a class, (4) I need to have more experience with writing and sharing my work, and finally, (5) I thought that maybe it could turn into a job someday! The idea of writing a column or blog from home and keeping my own work hours to suit myself greatly appeals to me, especially when I consider having kids (not for a few years, but the thought is still there).
